Jan 11, 2016

First phase completed on time in November 2015 also notches impressive safety record

The successful completion of phase one which includes an 8 storey office building and a 588 room Ibis hotel also culminated in Al Futtaim Carillion attaining a safety record of achieving 5.6 million man hours of Zero Loss Time Incidents (Zero LTI), a testimony to excellence in construction health and safety.

At the inauguration of phase two, Gurjit Singh, Senior Vice President - Real Estate, DWTC said, "DWTC is continuing with its market share growth strategy of creating a prime central business district destination, underpinned by a strong conventions and exhibitions business endowed with a Free Zone and freehold status."

The commercial office properties in both phases will have a net leasable area of approximately 84,000 sqm, together with approximately 6,400 sqm of net leasable multi format retail space, served by 2,150 parking bays in a 4 level basement.

The DTCD development is being designed to best-in-class quality standards and has achieved LEED® Gold precertification from the US Green Building Council - the industry benchmark for green building performance covering design, construction, operations and maintenance.

Singh added: "Phase one has successfully attracted blue chip commercial tenants to our Grade A, single ownership, large floor plate, office space. This demand is expected to continue in phase two. We are also especially excited with the forthcoming opening of the new 588 room Ibis Hotel at DTCD."
