Etihad Rail Launches New Bonded Rail Corridor, Operations to Begin in 2025

Etihad Rail Launches New Bonded Rail Corridor

Etihad Rail has announced the launch of a new rail corridor that will enhance the movement of goods across the UAE, with pilot operations scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025. The initiative aims to streamline customs processes and provide advanced logistics services between key ports and free zones.

A preliminary agreement for the ‘Bonded Rail Corridor’ was signed between Etihad Rail, Abu Dhabi Customs, Fujairah Customs, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, Fujairah Terminals, and Noatum Logistics. The corridor will connect Khalifa Port, Fujairah Terminals, and adjacent free zones, enabling faster and more efficient transportation of goods.

The new corridor is designed to reduce customs clearance times by allowing final formalities to be completed at the destination, while coordinated pre-inquiry procedures ensure smooth entry and exit. Goods transported via Etihad Rail will benefit from priority clearance within customs systems, providing a competitive advantage for businesses.

Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council and chairman of Etihad Rail, highlighted that the corridor will strengthen the UAE’s position as a global trade gateway while enhancing operational efficiency and safety.

The project covers free zones, transit shipments, exports, and domestic goods movement between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. Ahead of the official launch, Etihad Rail is collaborating with authorities and customers to finalize cooperation frameworks, activate full services, and implement performance monitoring mechanisms.

Looking forward, partners plan to expand the corridor network to additional train stations and introduce innovative services leveraging advanced technologies, further boosting efficiency and competitiveness in UAE logistics.
