The UAE has launched a new electronic service allowing Golden Visa holders to obtain a return permit within 30 minutes if they lose their passport while abroad. The service is completely free and ensures smooth re-entry into the UAE.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this permit is valid for a single entry and cannot be used for travel to other countries. The initiative was developed in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security to make travel emergencies easier for Golden Visa residents.
Golden Visa holders and their registered dependents, including spouses and children, can access this service through the ministry’s website or mobile app using their UAE Pass digital ID. Applicants need to upload:
A report of the lost passport
Golden Visa details
A recent passport-sized photo (white background)
The permit is issued within 30 minutes and remains valid for seven days from issuance.
Additional consular services for Golden Visa holders include:
24/7 dedicated hotline: +971 2493 1133 for emergency support and inquiries
Emergency and crisis coordination with UAE embassies and consulates
Repatriation and burial support in case of death abroad
The ministry confirmed that Golden Visa holders are also included in UAE’s global emergency and evacuation plans, ensuring full protection during crises.
This initiative reinforces the UAE’s commitment to offering efficient and secure services to its long-term residents, ensuring peace of mind even when traveling abroad.
